I like winter. Why can’t we have it for the whole year?
Here’re (does writing it that way look extremely weird, or is it just me?) a few pics from an event yesterday, where I had the chance to give some friends a ride. What was originally intended to be an asphalt-only event quickly turned wintry when lots of snow arrived on Thursday night.
Sliding on ice is awesome! Also, the tires last forever on ice, which is a nice bonus.

I managed to keep my studs for two winters while pretending to be Tommi Mäkinen in my Galant 4x4 (under safe circumstances). It was awesome.

Because it’s cold, wet and dark?

Because you can go sideways without destroying a set of tires every 5 minutes :D

and because i can go sideways at 5-10mph in my fwd family car and have no worry’s about dying.

I wish studded tires were legal in my state. But snows do good enough I guess. Also but Galant 4x4 do you mean a VR-4?

Where do you live that you already have snow? I live in norther Wi and it was 65 yesterday. Although we’re supposed to get a big storm in a week or so

I live roughly 5000 miles east of WI :D
To be fair, we don’t typically have snow this time of year, and the past two winters were just sad (as in, warm and snowless). This is an unexpected, albeit welcome, change of pace

Our winter have been weird too, the last one was just too warm to snow to stick, we’d get 3-4 inch stroms and it’s be gone in three days, it was that way from Nov-January and march-may. The winter before that was just supper late, like the biggest storms we 16-20 inches and they we all in April, and early May,

Well, that’s at least something - we’ve had roughly one week of snow in each of the past two winters. It’s been depressing. Here’s hoping that changes this year

That would b a bummer. The oddest thing is all the sudden no one wants snowmobiles. Like a new one is still 7-13,000 but used the are cheap as hell. Most people but a UTV instead.

To be fair, the top end studless tires (looking at you Nokian) are nearly as good and don’t make additional noise when you drive on asphalt

I like winter as well however I need it to hold off a bit until I can get home for thanksgiving break so I can get my snow tires first.

Snows are good enough in most cases, at least before they get too old. The Mitsubishi was an euro model 4x4 with a SOCH 4G63, picture below.
It was a bit slow, but very good in winter conditions.

Winter was pretty awesome until some dick got the bright idea of pouring salt over the roads. Now I seriously hate every time when I have to drive when the temperature is at the salt applying conditions. Luckily I can commute to work with a bicycle.

Not a bad looking car. Was it full time AWD or something else. My VR-4 is full time.

Full time AWD, probably similar to what you have on your VR-4. Didn’t have the 4-wheel steering though. I’ve been wanting another one since I sold it four years ago, the next owner wrecked this one...
